Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom Meets Professor Mohammed Sami Al-Abadi to Discuss the Transfer of British Medical Expertise to Iraq

His Excellency Dr Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, met with Professor Mohammed Sami Al-Abadi, Adviser to the National Health Service (NHS), Professor at the University of Wolverhampton, and President of the Midland Medical Academy, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific and medical cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom.

The meeting explored prospects for transferring British expertise and professional capabilities to Iraq, as well as fostering collaboration in joint medical research. Discussions also focused on organising scientific meetings and specialised workshops aimed at benefiting from British expertise in modern treatments and advanced technical training, particularly in the fields of robotic-assisted surgery, cancer therapies, and other cutting-edge medical technologies.

His Excellency the Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting scientific and medical initiatives that enhance cooperation between health and academic institutions in Iraq and the United Kingdom. He also emphasised the importance of drawing upon advanced international expertise in a manner that contributes to the development of Iraq’s healthcare sector.

Professor Mohammed Sami Al-Abadi expressed his readiness to support efforts aimed at expanding avenues of scientific and medical cooperation. He underscored the importance of harnessing the expertise and capabilities of Iraqi professionals abroad in support of Iraq’s ongoing scientific and healthcare advancement.

Professor Mohammed Sami Al-Abadi is regarded as one of Iraq’s distinguished medical professionals who has established a notable presence in the United Kingdom and has contributed to numerous scientific and medical initiatives. The meeting was also attended by Dr Wissam Al-Freiji, Head of the Expatriate Affairs Portfolio at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq.
